Tron Meyer

Strata

26 September - 3 November 2019

With the exhibition Strata, Tron Meyer presents rock and concrete objects as a hommage to the Norwegian masters of 1950-60s experimental brutalist architecture. Meyer has over several years collected moraine rocks unique for the area of Vestfold where he grew up, and use these for both sculptural work and as aggregate for casting with pigmented concrete.

-"In a time where new materials, new forms and signature production is regarded as essential for the majority of designers, it has been a veluable experience to rather look back at local architectural history and in a way add to the investment done by past generations."

The works exhibited are made by simple tools and casting techniques, where the core of both stone and concrete cut to geometric shapes. The surfaces are polished so the variation and richness of the material and colours are exposed as a moment of surprise.

At Gallery Format, a square table surrounded by four stools and a series of hand sculptures creates a setting of relation.

Tron Meyer (1983), works as a designer, artist and architect in Drammen Norway. He holds an MA from Oslo National Academy of the Arts in visual arts and an MA in architecture from The Oslo School for Architecture and Design. Amongst previous exhibitions are MARS, solo exhibition at Patrick Parrish Gallery New York and participation at FOG San Francisco, Design Basel in Miami and Basel.
