Anette Krogstad og Victoria Günzler

En verden et landskap

12 March - 28 June 2020

Anette Krogstad and Victoria Günzler share a studio and met while getting their MAs in Medium- and Material-based Art and Ceramics, this exhibition is their first collaboration. They both work with ceramics as their primary medium, with different approaches to the material and the process. Anette have comprehensive knowledge and a special interest in glaze and ceramic surface. Victoria have experience with the different inherent qualities of clay and work extensively with the shape and form of her objects.

The collaboration has been an interchange where Günzler have given the objects shape and form, Krogstad using her experience glaze the same objects. It has unfolded like a game of «picture consequences” where one, by drawing different sections, work together to complete a drawing, or in this case an object. In spite of the secretive nature of that kind of game they describe the collaboration as a part of an ongoing dialogue between the two.

The exhibition includes several ceramic objects displayed on wavy shapes in an acidic green colour, mounted on the wall it resembles a kind of foliage. The objects make out a visual universe, with variation in shape and surface. Like a synthesis they are parts of a larger whole, an undefined (in)organic whole. A world, a landscape of imagined living organisms and inorganic material. The objects usefulness appears more or less, some of them are serving something reminiscing communion bread, others warp and make its function evasive. You can’t make out whether these are objects or organisms collected from the animal or plant kingdom or the bottom of the sea.
