Helene Duckert

Self-portrait spectacles | Emojimasks

11 March - 27 June 2021

As an archaeologist examines the remains of the last great civilisation, Duckert searches for connections between human and its possessions. With small means and shifting subtle and disturbing humour, the irrepressible left-overs are transformed into meaning-bearing artefacts that put their finger on everyone's life in an increasingly globalised world. Duckert's installations offer a visual archive of leftovers and discarded material, taken from the city's garbage containers, and provide a commentary on contemporary ups and downs.
In this exhibition Duckert is showing two series of work in a larger installation; Self-portrait spectacles and Emojimasks.
