Sverre Uhnger
Revisit
16 January - 8 March 2020
In this exhibition Sverre Uhnger explores how digitally programmed machines (CNC) can be used as creative tool or instrument when creating both functional and decorative objects. The articles and categories are familiar, but they become transformed when the chosen techniques influence their structure and shape.
Sverre Uhnger is specialized in furniture and product design. Over the last few years Uhnger has started to produce one-off’s and small batches of work that wander in between design and craft. Working mainly in wood, he has experimented in the junction between traditional crafts and digital techniques used in manufacturing. His work focuses on, and challenges, the collective and individual perception of handcraft.
Sverre Uhnger (b.1982) has a background as a cabinet maker specialized in restoration and traditional techniques.
