Galleri Format Oslo
Closed between Dec 23rd-Jan 1st
Galleri Format Oslo is happy to inaugurate the brand new Format Project Space with an exhibition of ceramic works by Lissette Escobar.
Following a period of refurbishment, our previous office and board meeting-room has been tranformed into a state of the art exhibition space, which will run an active and experimental programming paralell to our main exhibitions, as well as serving as showroom for consigned works. The realisation of this new space has been made possible with generous support from the Arts Council Norway (Kulturrådet) and the Norwegian Craft Association (Norske Kunsthåndverkere).
The first project to be exhibited is a showcase exhibition with ceramic objects by Lissette Escobar. Inspired by pre-columbian Chancay pottery of her native Peru, she explores material aspects of earthen ware with a keen fascination for antropomorphic shapes and the ritual narratives of ceramic vessels. Her approach is highly experimental and often employ ready-made objects as well as raw clay.
Lissette Escobar (b. 1982, Lima) is a BFA graduate of Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
